This is a clarinet from the music room at our school. I find within the instrument's many metal pieces there are some very elegant lines. So to show those off I put my strobe off to the side just a little higher with a mid sized soft box facing the direction the instrument was going, and for personal preference I converted the photo to black and white after in Photoshop.
This here is my didgeridoo a unique instrument native to Australia. I had a very hard time capturing an image of this instrument seeing as it's so long. I put the didg on a white surface with a black backdrop. I took my strobe and fired down on an angle with a soft box.
I saw an image like this online and this is my attempt at recreation. When I saw the image online I thought the flute looked very nice on sheet music. I took a strobe with soft box overhead to light the flute and the whole page. It is very hard to get this shot without the background in the shot.
This is my personal favorite. Very hard to light the shot right and a very hard set up because you might break the bass if not careful.first I took 4 strobes with thin soft boxes on each. Two at the bottom corners facing up diagonally and the other two near the top facing down diagonally. This is the tricky part and potentially dangerous. use wire and hang the bass from the ceiling...... literately hang it from the ceiling. My music teacher found out I had to do this and he almost died. Again if you try this be careful.
This is another try at recreation. I love the brass and how it shines. Easy to light strobe with soft box to left and reflector on right. Easy yet very slick
The tuba is hard to get in full. so I improvised and tried just the valves wile still getting part of the bell in. I used a soft box on a strobe just a little to the right of me. It makes the brass pop out.
